Position Status: Part-time (10 - 15 hours/week)
Compensation: $20/hr
Location: South Florida Campuses
Reports to: Engage the Vote Campus Coordinator
Engage builds civic equity and power through voter engagement and local and state issue organizing. We center young voters and leaders ages 16-35, building young people’s political power. As a civic and political education leader, Engage strengthens a culture of locally driven democratic participation of diverse communities, builds power to implement change, and works to advance a young people-led issue agenda that protects and invests in our communities.
Engage is currently seeking Engage the Vote Student Fellows to join our voter and civic engagement program in South Florida. Our goal is to civically engage and activate students and volunteers on college campuses to assist in building capacity, getting out the vote, and relationship-building to promote nonpartisan civic engagement. We are looking for self-starters with a keen interest in civic engagement, democratic values, and a passion for engaging young people on important issues.
Engage the Vote Student Fellows will be responsible for learning about and addressing issues related to voting rights at the local, state, and federal levels. They will also participate in civic engagement by leading efforts on their campus, helping students register and pledge to vote, signing up for vote by mail, and assisting with class presentations, volunteer recruitment, and on-campus civic engagement events. Fellows will be involved in direct voter outreach efforts such as phone and text banking. To facilitate their growth, they will also undergo civic leadership training development with Engage staff and civic leaders.
Interested applicants should apply as soon as possible, with a rolling review process and applicants should be available for an interview at their earliest possible convenience. The fellowship program will start mid-August 2024 and will run through the Fall semester.
