POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Programs & Strategy, the Resource Support & Engagement Manager provides frontline support to callers seeking financial and logistical assistance for their abortions and is responsible for offering knowledgeable, compassionate support to people seeking abortion care. The Resource Support & Engagement Manager also coordinates a team of volunteer intake coordinators and Practi-Cab drivers, ensuring abortion seekers receive values-aligned support and connecting reproductive health, rights, and justice advocates to direct service opportunities. As a key member of the BRAF team, the Resource Support & Engagement Manager is responsible for assigning and conducting intake calls; sending clinic pledges and coordinating practical support; managing and supporting intake and Practi-Cab volunteers; and assisting with resource development, data analysis, and other administrative tasks as needed. Fluency in verbal and written Spanish and English is preferred for this position. 


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Resource Coordination & Clinic Engagement

  • Work directly with BRAF callers to determine funding and/or other types of support needed to access care.
  • Coordinate caller travel, lodging, childcare, and/or make referrals to other practical and community support networks.
  • Send accurate financial commitments to clinics in a timely manner.
  • Ensure excellence with BRAF intake by providing non-judgmental, compassionate, trauma-informed, whole person support to people seeking abortion care.
  • Manage caller management systems & data operations in compliance with BRAF policies and practices.
  • Collaborate with abortion funds, direct service providers, and reproductive health/rights/justice organizations to better understand the resource ecosystem and provide appropriate referrals to callers.
  • Serve as the primary point person for clinic communications relating to funding pledges and patient care.
  • Actively engage in ongoing education and development pertaining to the national, regional, and local abortion access landscape and other resources.

Volunteer Engagement & Management

  • Work closely with the Director of Programs & Strategy to cultivate a diverse base of caller support volunteers.
  • Assist with screening and training volunteer intake coordinators and Practi-Cab drivers.
  • Coordinate and schedule caller support volunteers to ensure intake line coverage and respond to ride requests from clinics and abortion funds.
  • Provide support and guidance to caller support volunteers, ensuring roles, responsibilities, expectations, and values alignment are clearly defined and communicated.
  • Regularly evaluate volunteer performance to ensure alignment with BRAF values, policies, and procedures.  
  • Support development of volunteer continuing education opportunities, networking events, emotional support resources, and appreciation efforts.
  • Maintain frequent communication with volunteers and respond to all inquiries from prospective volunteers.  
  • Manage Bloomerang volunteer database and online application. 

Administrative 

  • Monitor and adhere to the program budget. Track expenditures/transactions, and support related financial administration.
  • Complete clinic pledge invoicing on a biweekly basis.
  • Contribute to the development of new resources and improvements to existing resources to support callers confidently, effectively, and efficiently.
  • Assist with collecting and analyzing program data to evaluate and identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in convenings, summits, retreats, and staff meetings, and participate in required virtual staff communications.


QUALIFICATIONS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Share Blue Ridge Abortion Fund’s commitment to abortion access and lead work with reproductive health, rights and justice lens. You understand and appreciate the barriers to abortion access and work with an intersectional framework including, but not limited not limited to, gender, economic, LGBTQ+, and racial justice.
  • Possess relational skills with ability to provide compassionate support to all caller populations (young adults, immigrants, people with disabilities etc.) experiencing a wide range of emotions regarding their abortion. You build relationships and facilitate communication that fosters trust, values difference, and furthers BRAF’s impact and mission; you recognize that abortion seekers deserve dignity, trust, and respect.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to working within the complex and ever-changing abortion access landscape. You are proactive in understanding what it takes to access abortion care locally, regionally, and nationally; you move with change instead of against it and you’re eager to learn how to best support abortion seekers in all circumstances. 
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, creative, and able to work independently and collaboratively on a small team. You are a problem solver who knows how to ask questions, seek clarity, and be accountable; you possess a high level of self-awareness and responsibility, and you’re skilled at managing projects, relationships, and yourself.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple and often time-sensitive tasks thoroughly and accurately. You recognize that accessing abortion care carries a sense of urgency AND you can calmly navigate complex situations without becoming overwhelmed by the urgency or lack of clarity.
  • Familiarity and comfort with sexual and reproductive health issues, particularly abortion and the abortion access landscape in the southeast and mid-Atlantic regions.
  • 4+ years of relevant professional, educational, and/or life experience.
  • Possess verbal and written fluency in Spanish and English (preferred). 


COMPENSATION

Salary $70,000 per year with an added bilingual differential. Benefits include 100% of employee health, dental, and vision premiums, 50% of partner and dependent premiums, short term disability, long term disability, 3 weeks paid time off, 13 paid holidays off, sick leave, a 32 hour work week, and 2 paid weeks of organizational collective rest.
