Description

ITIF, the world’s leading think tank for science and

technology policy, seeks a government relations manager to effectively market

ITIF’s policy expertise to policymakers in Washington, DC. Reporting to ITIF’s Chief

Development Officer, the government relations manager will establish and

cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, identify opportunities for

engagement with policymakers, and champion ITIF’s policy expertise among

thought leaders and other influencers to grow ITIF’s brand equity to maximize

its impact, increase its visibility, and grow its audience.


This is a full-time position in Washington, D.C. The salary

for this position is $75,000 - $115,000, depending on experience. ITIF also

provides a health and retirement benefits package, generous paid vacation,

annual performance-based bonus, and public transportation benefit.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategy to strengthen ITIF’s relationships with policymakers, including Congressional members and staff, and increase engagement with ITIF experts.
  • Organize regular private forums, such as roundtables and salon dinners, with high-level policymakers.
  • Monitor government activities, legislation, and regulations that are relevant to ITIF’s policy areas and identify opportunities for ITIF engagement.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with relevant stakeholders for ITIF publications and events.
  • Promote ITIF publications and events to relevant stakeholders to maximize its impact.
  • Maintain internal engagement CRM.
  • Recruit relevant attendees for regular Congressional staff trips, public and private events, and policy retreats.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public affairs, public relations, communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of government processes, legislative and regulatory frameworks, and public policy issues.
  • Five years or more of progressively responsible, professional experience in government, politics, non-profit brand marketing, political advocacy and outreach, external affairs, or similar relevant professional background.
  • Excellent communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a highly organized professional able to manage fast-paced deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly digest and communicate about research on a range of complex policy topics.
  • An understanding of U.S. politics and a demonstrated ability to build and leverage professional networks.
  • An interest in innovation policy, economic policy, science policy, technology policy, or similar issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
