The Outreach Coordinator (Education/Training Specialist II) for the Center for European Studies (CES) within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at the University of Florida (UF) will be responsible for organizing and managing CES outreach activities both on and off campus. This includes the selection of guest speakers, designing outreach programs, community and K-12 engagement, and collaborating with CES faculty and staff to expand the center’s impact. The Outreach Coordinator will oversee the development and design of CES materials, manage social media accounts, and ensure the website is active and up to date. The position also involves the implementation and supervision of outreach events, including managing logistics such as space reservations, travel, and accommodations for guests, as well as promoting events to the campus and general public. The primary duties for this position include but are not limited to:

Grant-related Outreach Activities:

  • Manage all grant-related events, including talks, symposia, workshops, and conferences.
  • Coordinate travel and accommodations for participants.
  • Work with the Fiscal Coordinator to manage purchases.
  • Track CES organized and co-sponsored events, and maintain data in a database for reporting and assessment purposes.
  • Develop and distribute assessment forms for CES events and manage the resulting data.
  • Draft outreach-related sections of grant applications and reports in collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director.

On-Campus Outreach Activities:

  • Organize and manage the CES lunchtime symposia and Speakers' Series.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative activities with UF campus institutions and organizations.
  • Recruit and schedule speakers for events.

Publicity, Advertising, and Materials Development:

  • Develop CES publications, posters, and informational materials.
  • Manage the CES website, ensuring it remains current and compliant with UF standards.
  • Oversee and manage CES social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

Off-Campus Outreach Activities:

  • Develop and implement off-campus
  • outreach activities targeting various groups, including K-12 teachers
  • and students, the general public, business community, government, and underserved groups.
  • Pursue specific events and programs encouraging participation in CES activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a field related to European Studies, Community or Public Relations, Communications, or Marketing.
  • At least five years of experience in a similar position or institution with similar job tasks.
  • Previous experience with website design and strategic use of social media for outreach and promotion of academic units.
  • Proven experience in planning and executing large-scale events.
  • Deep understanding of European studies, including current trends and key issues in the field.
  • Proficiency in using design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) for developing promotional materials.
  • Previous involvement in community engagement projects or partnerships with educational institutions.
  • Experience in managing and coordinating volunteers.
