Outreach and Partnerships Manager

The Outreach and Partnerships Manager, a key member of ISPU’s research team, is responsible for developing programmatic partnerships, ensuring that ISPU research reaches key audiences, presenting ISPU research to diverse audiences, and overseeing impact education projects. The position is virtual with in-person engagements around the US. The ideal candidate is well connected in the Muslim and broader policy community, understands the Muslim community landscape, and is familiar with social policy research on Muslims or similar communities. Candidates must be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with senior community leaders, have a proactive attitude about building partnerships and engaging new audiences, and have excellent communication and organization skills.

Project Management 20%

• Work with Senior Outreach and Partnerships Manager, and Director of Communications to develop a dissemination strategy for each research product, including identifying stakeholders, community leaders, policy makers, and media outlets for dissemination.
• Execute dissemination strategy for each research product including, but not limited to, organizing virtual and in-person events including the operational and substantive aspects of events. 
• Work with the Director of Research to engage in quality control of research products, including content review.

Cultivation and engagement of stakeholders 35%

• Create and maintain a database of policymakers, interfaith allies, and government staff working on the issues relevant to ISPU.
• Assist Senior Outreach and Partnerships Manager with relationship-building efforts, including setting up meetings, researching leads, disseminating ISPU reports, etc.
• Closely follow national community development and policy developments in Washington, DC, and inform the Senior Outreach and Partnerships Manager about new ideas for ISPU’s work.
• Support the identification of networking opportunities and attend networking events as requested.
• Engage with and represent ISPU at different  partnerships tables, in partnership with the Senior Outreach and Partnerships Manager.  

Impact Education/Dissemination 35%

• Lead the planning for research events, briefings, convenings, webinars, and conferences in consultation with Senior Outreach and Partnerships Manager
• Plan and manage successful ally, partner, community, and policy events and other communication opportunities.
• Seek and manage opportunities for sharing ISPU’s research including identification of conferences and other outlets, writing and submission of abstracts, and working with ISPU scholars on opportunities for dissemination through their networks.
• Prepare and present research at community events and conferences. 
• Work with the communications team to create fact-sheets and resource documents based on ISPU reports and data to be used for outreach efforts.

Administration and Operations 10%

• Regularly update outreach activities in various reports and trackers for board, donors, and other stakeholders.
• Update relevant contacts in CRM and maintain organizational files and historical documents. 
• Draft meeting agendas, document meeting notes, and assist with facilitating and organizing meetings as needed. 
• Contribute to annual strategic planning efforts 
• Other administrative and management tasks as needed. 

Education and Essential Knowledge/Experience

BA in a relevant field and preferably 5+ years related experience.

• The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, self-starter who takes initiative and is creative about achieving their goals.
• Excellent attention to detail is a must, as is the ability to think strategically. 
• Exceptional interpersonal skills are needed, as are all types of communication and presentation skills. 
• Deep familiarity and experience with the American Muslim community and context is strongly preferred. 
• Experience in research, education, training, community organizing, and/or public policy are highly preferred.
• Willingness to work some nights and weekends and to travel frequently is essential.
• An effective and clear writer and researcher.
