Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with legislative staff and union members to coordinate the union’s legislative priorities.
Supervise Albany staff and their assignments.
Lead legislative research, bill drafting, memo writing, and bill tracking.
Analyze proposed legislation and make recommendations to the PAL Director.
Lobby elected officials in Albany regarding legislative and budget priorities.
Oversee all aspects of state coalition work and assign staff as needed.
Assist in planning and executing member Lobby days.
Facilitate political and legislative trainings for members and local leadership.
Attend or assign staff to Albany fundraisers for endorsed candidates.
Submits reports to the PAL Director on legislative hearings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have 5-7 years of organizing and/or lobbying experience and be familiar with the legislative and State budget process, as well as issues of importance to Labor
Policy and/or legal background preferred
Strong communication, writing, and research skills
Ability to work with personnel at various governmental levels
Must be team-oriented
Must be able to work weekends and evenings
