Description

Summary of Role: This person will primarily partner with our attorneys on class actions, collective lawsuits, and other forms of impact litigation and thus be responsible for assisting in investigating and drafting complaints, handling case management, briefing and motions practice, conducting discovery (including depositions), and trial advocacy. They will occasionally do know-your-rights and organizing-focused  trainings with community members, and will be expected to speak with media outlets to share about our work. They will be expected to collaborate with and respect community organizers and impacted community members; the people who ultimately drive and lead the work we do. Eventually, they will support the creation and execution of our Movement Lawyering Education and Internship Program, which will include a series of trainings that will lead toward movement lawyering certification. As a small but mighty team of 4, we are looking for someone that takes a lot of initiative and can fit into our unique work culture.


Position Requirements: 

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in litigation, preferably with tenants rights experience;
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience working with community organizers and impacted communities with various marginalized identities is preferred (i.e. history of criminal background, undocumented residents, people with disabilities, etc.) 
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Colorado State Bar.
  • History of building new programs from the ground up is a major plus.
  • A supportive, client-focused attitude, emphasizing creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to independently manage and litigate a substantial  caseload once trained, including performing the tasks required with minimal supervision and seeking support from supervisors when necessary.
  • Demonstrated passion for social and racial justice, underpinning a commitment to fighting for the rights of vulnerable communities.
  •  A strong desire to prioritize client and community needs, placing their well-being at the center of your work.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the front range area and surrounding suburbs to serve clients effectively and attend community meetings, with occasional travel to communities outside of metro area
  • Proven ability to excel in a hybrid work environment. A home office setup will be provided by the firm, along with access to our office located in Glendale.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite, and Google Suite is desired.
  • Strong organizational abilities coupled with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • A creative, self-driven attitude combined with a strong desire to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment dedicated to social justice and equity.

Additional Details: 

  • Candidates must reside in Colorado, ideally within the front range area
  • A competitive $110,000-130,000 salary.
