Training Specialist

WV FREE is seeking TWO full-time (average of 40 hours per week) Training Specialists to implement programming for its new Sexual Health for Adolescents Rooted in Equity (SHARE) program. 

The Training Specialist is responsible for working alongside youth and community stakeholders to facilitate two sexual health education curricula for rural youth, LGBTQIA+ youth, and youth of color across West Virginia. 

Status: 40 hours/wk average, exempt

Salary: $50,000/year

Reports to: Director of Programs 

General Duties

• Facilitate selected evidence based sexual health education workshops with fidelity across the state of West Virginia
• Work closely with implementation/recruitment sites to recruit workshop participants and plan workshop implementation
• Coordinate and facilitate youth advisory council, or equivalent, with purpose of informing the SHARE program and connecting with similar youth councils in five other program states
• Participate in stakeholder engagement activities and needs assessment meetings
• Identify and coordinate additional supportive services for youth and parents in collaboration with other SHARE subgrantees
• Staff the OkaySo texting platform during agreed upon hours and in coordination with 10 other SHARE state implementation specialists from 5 other states
• Work closely with partner organizations’ communications manager and implementation/recruitment sites to publicize workshops and other opportunities to engage with the program
• Provide and/or coordinate data collection as required and participate in data review
• Assist with training and technical assistance for professionals, including local site staff, as needed
• Meet required reach for program participants annually
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• At least two years of related experience, including experience providing sexual health instruction and/or working with community-based organizations or agencies with adolescent or health instruction
• Youth facilitation experience 
• Skilled in coordinating with caregivers, schools, and community partners 
• Ability to identify gaps in curriculum to best suit the needs of target populations (LGBTQIA+ youth, rural youth, youth of color) 
• Training in or certified to train in effective sexual health interventions is a plus
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, including attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and written word
• Able to work both independently and within a team
• Reliable transportation to travel to implementation sites

Work Locations

This is a remote position from a location of your choice in West Virginia. The candidate must be able to work from home and have access to computer, phone, printer, and internet connection. There will be significant travel within West Virginia, including to the home office in Charleston, and some travel out of state.
