The Communications Outreach Specialist opportunity is a grant-funded, 12-month role whose vital contributions to Zero Abuse Project will include providing outreach throughout Minnesota for both the Empower Me! and Smart Not Scared prevention education curriculum. The Communications Outreach Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting outreach and development for school administrators and staff to implement abuse prevention education material. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, this role requires strong organizational capabilities, collaboration and public engagement/presentation skills, and adeptness in handling multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced environment that is our fully-remote, dynamic nonprofit agency.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the coordination and implementation of outreach to schools and community partners throughout Minnesota to implement abuse prevention education programs for Zero Abuse Project.
• Liaison with schools and staff in collaborating with partners in Minnesota.
• Organize awareness events, including 5K, to include Minnesota schools, community members, families/parents, collaborative partners and professionals in the field of law enforcement, social services, mental health, and other multi-disciplinary teams.
• Support project director and prevention efforts in designing and implementing partners, safety tips, tools, and resources that are mission-based, child-centered, and effective.
• Gather, track, and communicate outcomes, testimonials, and evaluation scores for internal and external stakeholder communications.
• Provide administrative support to the Director on functions relating to communications and outreach, events, school partnerships, curriculum, and resources.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a field relevant to the work of Zero Abuse Project is preferred, and a minimum of 1 year of previous professional experience in event management, coordination, community outreach/engagement or similar role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and basic database operations.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment in problem-solving.
• Experience working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, responsibility, initiative, and professionalism in a fully remote, fast-paced setting.

What else you should know:
• Remote position with a flexible schedule; Candidates must be available during core working hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET.
• Some travel within the state of Minnesota will be required – apprx. ~10%
