Girls on the Run (GOTR) inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. GOTR uses physical activity paired with facilitated lessons to equip participants with the skills they need to support their physical, mental and emotional health. Position Summary

Girls on the Run Greater Oregon is seeking a Development Director to lead our fundraising initiatives, with a focus on the organization’s work in individual giving and sponsorship.

The Development Director will report to the Executive Director and will build upon a strong culture of philanthropy fostered by the staff, Board of Directors and newly formed Associate Board. In addition to this local network, they will have opportunities to engage with peers at Girls on the Run councils across the country for benchmarking and camaraderie.

The primary responsibility of the Development Director will be to lead the organization’s individual giving strategy. This will include developing and implementing strategies to identify, cultivate and steward donors to increase and diversify philanthropic revenue sources.

The Development Director will also be responsible for the organization’s sponsorship program. This will include managing a portfolio of sponsors and prospects, actively soliciting donations, ensuring obligations are fulfilled and drafting sponsor recaps.

Qualities and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated fundraising experience including direct individual donor solicitation
  • Passion for the Girls on the Run mission and the ability to effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health
  • Understanding of and commitment to community centric fundraising
  • Can-do attitude, with the ability to maintain high-quality work while managing multiple projects
  • Availability on nights and weekends (as needed) and for occasional team visits during the afterschool hours of 2:30 - 6:00
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite and adept at learning new systems
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required
