Community Support Assistant Trainer - Life/Home/Tech
About the Agency: JSDD is a multi-purpose agency dedicated to providing an integrated program of community education, advocacy and services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Overview: Seeking a Community Support Assistant Trainer for JSDD: Life | Home | Tech (LHT). This grant funded initiative will incorporate technology in JSDD group homes and private residential settings in the larger community. The goal is to support greater independence and accessibility for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), Autism, and older adults who are aging in place. The ideal candidate will be patient, organized, and passionate about making technology accessible to all.
Qualifications: Expertise in technology, software, applications, and instruction, excellent time management and organizational skills, strong attention to detail and follow-up, excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, keep up with a fast-paced project timeline and report on the progress of deliverables.
· Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
· Demonstrated knowledge of technology devices (Amazon Echo devices, smart home technology), including installation and education
· Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and/or older adults a plus
Key Responsibilities:
· Install enabling technology in the homes of adults with IDD, autism and older adults
· Provide training and education, as well as ongoing support and troubleshoot installed technology
· Teach technology literacy topics to groups, participation in curriculum development, using a person-centered approach
· Investigate new types of technology and the various ways it will support the community we serve
· Evaluate installed technology through Quality Assurance checks, home visits and feedback from residents, staff and caregivers
· Provide support for Information Sessions and community outreach events
· Other responsibilities as assigned by the Project Coordinator
Schedule: This is a part-time (30 hours weekly), one-year grant-funded position starting Sep 16, 2024, at the earliest, and is subject to renewal.
· Monday to Thursday
· Occasional Evening or Weekend availability for special events
Location: Hybrid Position, local travel around Essex and Morris Counties to monitor project activities. As well as attendance at meetings, events and related programs at JSDD main office in Livingston, NJ.

Pay: $38,000.00 per year
