POSITION DESCRIPTION

The National Alliance for Hispanic Health (Alliance) is the nation's foremost science-based source of information and trusted advocate for the health of Hispanics in the US and Puerto Rico with a mission to achieve the best health for all. We are a network of community-based organizations delivering front-line health and human services to 15 million people each year, and are dedicated to making a difference in the daily lives of families, communities, and our nation. Position Responsibilities. The Deputy Project Director is responsible for management and administration of Alliance disease prevention and health promotion projects including:

  • Providing administrative, financial and evaluation oversight of projects;
  • Coordinating with and providing assistance to community-based partners leading local and regional efforts;
  • Maintaining relationships with funding organizations, including financial and project reporting;
  • Supervising and supporting project team members;
  • Representing the Alliance in meetings and fostering relationships with key stakeholders; and,
  • Communicating trends and priorities to funders and the broader network of stakeholders.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree and five years of experience managing public health programs, or equivalent.
  • Substantive knowledge of public health, chronic disease prevention and management, community-based organizations and clinics, and state and local public health systems.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills; ability to communicate cross-culturally.
  • Proven ability to:
  • Write reports, create program documents and deliver presentations.
  • Work efficiently and conscientiously with great attention to detail.
  • Work well independently and in group settings.
  • Initiate ideas that expand the impact of the program or assignment beyond the official scope of work.
  • Demonstrated diplomatic, management, and communication skills to liaise and advocate with governments, funders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
  • Speaking, reading and writing fluency in Spanish preferred but not mandatory.

POSITION LOCATION

The position will be based at the Alliance Headquarters in Washington, DC. Full-time staff use a hybrid in-person and remote work platform. Domestic travel to partner communities and funder meetings is expected.
