Property Caretaker
Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Glen Allen, VA (UUCC)
Reports to: Congregational Administrator
Status: Part-Time
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Hours and schedule: up to 20 hours a week, days TBD
Start Date: August 20th 2024
The Property Caretaker performs cleaning and maintenance of the church building and grounds, including the furnishings and equipment, in order to provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment for the programs of the church.
Essential Functions:
- Performs general building cleaning inside as described in the cleaning schedule
- Informs supervisor of cleaning supplies and consumables inventory for reorder
- Provides general building cleaning for the exterior spaces immediate to the building
- Services equipment and complete minor repairs in and outside of the church as skill sets and available tools allow
- Sets up spaces for services, extra events and rentals.
- Assists the congregational administrator with monitoring contractor work
- Assists buildings and grounds committee with project planning, scheduling, and reporting
Other Responsibilities:
- Attends certain scheduled church functions, when able, to act as the Safety Advocate,
- Substitutes for buildings and grounds volunteers when they are not available for grounds maintenance including mowing in peak and non-peak growing seasons
Minimum Qualifications:
- Willingness to help create a hospitable and welcoming environment for visitors and members
- Experience in janitorial service
- Experience working with the mechanics and function of day to day building operations
- Experience with operating lawn equipment
- Able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, to stand and complete tasks for prolonged periods of time, and to safely use ladders
- Maintains basic computer skills for email and storing electronic records and documents, and staying current on approved maintenance schedules documented by the congregational administrator and the buildings and grounds committee
- Able to pass required background checks
- Understanding of or willingness to learn about Unitarian Universalism
