 II.         General Summary of Duties:

EMPath manages a learning network, the Economic Mobility Exchange (“Exchange”). The Exchange is comprised of 1,000+ organizations and government agencies from around the world interested in learning about and implementing EMPath’s Mobility Mentoring® model and tools used to support low-income families and individuals in their goal to become economically self-sufficient.  The Member Engagement Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Exchange with developing and maintaining strong relationships with a portfolio of member organizations, project management, facilitating workshops and trainings, as well as helping to continuously evolve the model.

 Salary: $60,000 USD Annually

Hours:  36 hours per week, Monday-Friday (EMPath offers a 4-day work week)

Position Title: Member Engagement Specialist 

Supervisor: Director of Member Relations 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with network members; 
  • Coordinate and provide administrative support for program design and implementation process in partnership with lead 
  • Support members with connecting to Exchange resources, trainings, and other network services;
  • Support the refinement, capture, and sharing of best practices among the learning network by crafting, reviewing, and facilitating discussions around new methods and tools, and building staff capacity to apply them
  • Feedback knowledge and insights gained from working with outside partners and members to core operations managers, in order to continue to evolve model and practices; and curriculum content 
  • Project manage shared learning process such as development of monthly webinars, subgroups, and/ or case studies
  • Participate in internal quality improvement and cross-departmental innovation initiatives (i.e. sub-groups focused on sector-based learning, program data and outcomes meetings, communications and advocacy opportunities for learning network members);
  • Co-facilitate EMPath trainings, subgroups, workshops, and presentations in-person, and/or online 
  • Represent EMPath at conferences, webinars, external meetings, and other events to market and outreach 
  • Support senior staff in managing and coordinating special learning cohorts
  • Other related research, administrative, and development projects and duties as necessary

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be culturally competent and practice cultural humility when working in various settings and communities represented by the learning network and bridge cultural difference to support economic mobility
  • Knowledge of economic mobility approaches and programming
  • Excellent team building, collaboration skills; the ability to influence at a variety of professional levels
  • Experience and comfort in public presentations
  • Ability to listen and learn from others and to synthesize and share salient points for continuous model improvement and evolution
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on a diverse set of business and organizational opportunities and challenges
  • Demonstrate ability to clearly articulate ideas verbally and in writing on the knowledge of model ethos 
  • Knowledge of project management approaches and tools, ability to take initiative, and juggle multiple projects   
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices for helping individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency
  • Interest in understanding the impacts of poverty, chronic stress, and trauma on executive functioning skills
  • Knowledge of coaching and mentoring best practices
  • Flexible, high degree of comfort with ambiguity and fast paced environment, enthusiasm, and a good sense of humor essential

 Educational and Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in a relevant field required (ie. social work, human services, public health, sociology, psychology, education, public administration)
  • Experience or strong knowledge of nonprofit and gov’t systems, in particular, child and family serving systems, early education, housing, and/or workforce development required
  • Knowledge and understanding of nonprofit program design and implementation methods strongly desired
  • Strong facilitation skills required
  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee communities a plus
  • Bi-lingual a plus (i.e. Spanish, Haitian Creole, etc.)
  • Experience working with diverse populations and low-income communities
  • Understanding of trauma-informed models, motivational interviewing, coaching and mentoring best practices 
  • Experience providing technical assistance and/or consultation to nonprofit organizations 
  • Commitment to EMPath’s mission and values, as well as Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging lens
  • Ability to travel out of state approximately 5-10% of time
  • Hybrid remote schedule; ability to travel to the office at least twice per week
