Description

Job Title: Assistant Program Manager

Reports to: Program Manager

Supervises: N/A

Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: 35 hours per week

Pay Range:  $23 - $27/hour

Summary:

The Assistant Program Manager will assist the Program Manager in ensuring a safe, supportive, inclusive, and fun educational environment for students. They support the In Focus class by preparing materials, interacting with students, and supervising projects. Their duties include preparing equipment for lessons, working with students one-on-one or in groups, keeping student projects organized, and supporting students through their media art journey. They will assist or lead video creation projects for The Cabot as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-Lead media education groups leading middle school youth through  hands-on training in digital video and audio production to ensure the completion of youth films.
  • Implement In Focus curriculum and ensure the consistency of its delivery. 
  • Work with staff to maintain strong communication with students and families around group times, dates, and other logistics.
  • Build meaningful relationships with students, providing artistic and emotional support. 
  • Instruct students in proper classroom procedures and behavior.
  • Oversee the maintenance, tracking, retention, and purchasing of In Focus equipment. 
  • Work with program leadership to host the end of the year screening for each class. 
  • Provides software, computer and project/file management for youth films; including backing up media.
  • Support in collecting images for promotional material for The Cabot's social media pages; Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. 
  • Manage the creation of independent and student-led videos for The Cabot.
  • Support collection and report of all the data needed for tracking growth, evaluations, and internal monitoring of the program's impact.
  • Engage internal and external community stakeholders in an annual recruitment to fill student  enrollment capacity for each class.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications: (Experience, Skills, Education):

  • Proficiency in all levels of film/video production (pre-production, production, post-production).
  • Skills in operating standard video, audio, and lighting equipment.
  • Experience building trusting relationships with underserved and/or at-risk teens. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro. Knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects, and/or Garage band, is not necessary but desired.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to work independently or with a team. 
  • Comfort in leading a group of youth ages 10 - 16 with provided curriculum.
  • High level of digital organization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Comfort in speaking in front of large groups is a plus.
  • Fluency in a language other than English, especially Spanish, Vietnamese, or Khmer, is not necessary but highly desired.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to stand for hours at a time
  • Required to climb stairs on a daily basis in a building without limited elevator access.
  • Regular moderate physical effort required (i.e. lifting boxes up to 50 lbs.)
