JOB TITLE: Data Support Specialist

SUPERVISOR: CMIS Program Manager

Position Details: Part time; 25 hours/week (M-F b/w 9am – 4pm)

Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Data Support Specialist are to provide technical assistance and training to users of Delaware’s Homeless Management Information System, CMIS (Community Management Information System); review CMIS data for quality and accuracy; and implement strategies for improvement.

Qualifications       

  • Experience providing training, technical assistance, and/or customer service to others.
  • Ability to be adaptable to meet the diverse technical assistance needs of community partners
  • Ability to make data entry requirements understandable and accessible to others
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with Zoom and Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and willing to learn new software or programs over time as needed    
  • Comfortable working with data and with data entry systems
  • The ability to develop and manage relationships with community partners
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while being an essential part of a team
  • Previous experience working with homeless assistance or social services programs a plus
  • Prior experience working with CMIS or other data collection system preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  1. Provide CMIS end user training that engages participants and improves skills and knowledge
  2. Work with the CMIS Program Manager to improve implementation of CMIS training
  3. Review the accuracy and quality of client information entered into CMIS by end users
  4. Implement strategies to improve the quality of data entered into CMIS
  5. Work one-on-one with CMIS end users to improve data entry processes
  6. Respond to requests for technical assistance each day through the CMIS helpdesk service
  7. Assist with onboarding new CMIS users
  8. Run and distribute Data Quality reports to CMIS participating agencies on a regular basis, highlighting areas for improvement
  9. Work with the CMIS Program Manager and Data
  10. Reporting Analyst to monitor data trends and develop strategies to respond
  11. Work with the Data Reporting Analyst to analyze needs and identify opportunities to improve data quality within CMIS
  12. Protect the privacy, security, and confidentiality of CMIS participant data at all time
  13. Assist with local and federal reporting about homelessness, as needed
