POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Associate for Youth works with the Director of Youth & Community Partnerships and the Coordinator for Learning to support the planning and logistics for a robust youth program serving NYC Youth from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The Program Associate will focus on collecting and organizing data across Trinity Youth programs, supporting afterschool programs, academic enrichment, event and trip planning, and maintaining the Afterschool and Summer Youth calendar. In addition to administrative duties, this role is also focused on building relationships with and between youth enrolled in Trinity’s many programs.

The pay range for this position is $68,400 - $76,600.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Youth Programming:

  • Support logistics for academic, athletic, and social enrichment programs for Trinity Youth, both on and off campus.
  • Support the back-end logistics and day-to-day operations of the Trinity Youth Afterschool including tracking attendance data and coordinating Youth Advisor schedules.
  • Support and facilitate learning opportunities in a safe and productive environment for youth programs in Trinity Program Spaces and while traveling.
  • Work closely with Trinity’s Operations Team to arrange meals and snacks for youth activities.
  • Support programs and advocacy opportunities that amplify youth voices and allow youth to develop critical thinking skills that promote youth choice and self-advocacy.
  • Work closely with Youth Advisors to ensure supervision for all youth activities.
  • Instruct and mentor youth participants.
  • Ensure returns of surveys, applications, and other important documentation.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of Trinity’s emergency and safety procedures and take appropriate actions for emergency situations onsite and during field trips.
  • Create an environment that is safe, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of youth participants.
  • Coordinate with Trinity’s Neighborhood Outreach team to connect Youth in need to available resources at Trinity and across New York City.
  • Assume other related responsibilities and special projects as required by the Director and Priest for Youth and Family.
  • Follow and maintain health and safety guidelines per the CDC and Trinity Policy.
  • With Operations, Facilities, and Security, ensure proper set-up and breakdown for Youth activities.

Fiscal Oversight:

  • Enter and track youth program expenses and projections to carefully manage assigned financial resources.
  • Support the department’s adherence to financial policies, practices, and deadlines.


Evaluation & Data:

  • Work with the Director, Coordinator, and Youth Minister to ensure that youth participants are tracked across all programs.
  • Support the collection of youth programming data and tracking methods.
  • With the Director, assist in providing monthly data updates to the departmental director and Vicar.

Communications:

  • Work with youth staff and Communications & Marketing to ensure youth platforms at Trinity are featuring youth-led content and are up-to-date with current programming.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and follow up promptly and completely; meet content expectations and deadlines.
  • Adhere to confidentiality rules and all other Trinity policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that promotes Trinity’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • Assume other related responsibilities and special projects as required by the Director and Priest for Youth & Family.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ACTIVITIES

  • Familiar with trauma-informed care, mental health first aid, and de-escalation
  • Familiar with and comfortable talking about the Episcopal Church
  • Good customer service and hospitality skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Comfortable working with youth to create a welcoming environment for all ages and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to youth, especially those experiencing personal and family challenges
  • Collaborative and self-motivated; able to work in a variety of groups and circumstances
  • Commitment to working on social justice issues
  • Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities required.


REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS

  • Undergraduate Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience required
  • Experience in education, youth faith formation, human services, social work within the public sector, or community outreach.
  • Experience working with New York City youth from a variety of backgrounds in formal and informal settings.
  • Experience administering programs with youth in community, church, or school settings.
