Employment Type: Full-Time; Salaried, Exempt Employee
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
ABOUT HOME IS HERE: Founded in 2021, Home Is Here is a growth-stage grassroots nonprofit organization that cultivates systems of support with and for newly arriving immigrants in the Gulf South. We believe democratizing resources is a part of the movement for immigrant justice and abolition. We believe in a culture of partnership, collective liberation, and belonging where everyone has a valued place and power. Home is Here builds alternative community infrastructure with immigrants who arrive without family or community support and are criminalized, incarcerated, and excluded from government-funded systems. Our work focuses on organizing around the areas that newly arriving immigrants say they value most: Legal Aid; Housing and Relationships.

We are seeking someone who understands that our change work takes time and centers care, creativity, and directly impacted people within systems designed to uphold structural forms of oppression - including the nonprofit system itself. As a young grassroots organization, we value relationships, experimentation and intentional risk-taking, tackling new and familiar challenges head on, and finding alternative solutions to best support our immigrant community.
As part of our team, you’ll collaborate with fellow team members, other organizations, community stakeholders, funders, ambassadors, and board members to achieve our organizational goals and maintain financial stability. Your role involves shaping our public identity, encouraging people to find their power in storytelling and other forms of leadership - leaving a lasting impression that motivates both directly impacted community members and allies to offer their support. You'll share the responsibility of managing the whole organization and will be supported by the Executive Director and Board of Directors. A big part of your job will be making sure we stay financially healthy, which is crucial for our long-term success.
