Description

The Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry is Emory’s interdisciplinary hub for the Humanities. We support innovative research across the full range of humanities disciplines, from undergraduates to faculty, and have a vibrant calendar of events designed to engage the entire Emory community and beyond. Each year, we center our activities around a topical theme. Our 2024-25 theme is "Democracy: Past, Present, Future." We seek an energetic Senior Program Coordinator with a creative, systems-thinking approach as we expand the activities of the center and its impact within and beyond our campus. Experience and interest in event coordination (seminars, lectures, small conferences and workshops, etc.), budget and finance, grant preparation and management, and excellent communication skills are sought. Join a collaborative team and community of scholars who value creative initiative and a commitment to inclusivity and humanistic inquiry.

This full-time (40 hours per week) position reports to the FCHI Associate Director. The candidate will be expected to live in the Atlanta area and work in-person on Emory’s campus.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills in both written and oral forms and a bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline. Successful applicants will be highly organized and demonstrate strong attention to detail and a track record of effective self-direction. An ability to demonstrate leadership and work collaboratively with diverse teams is essential, as is an eagerness to learn new systems and technologies and problem-solve. Experience managing budgets and financial transactions, familiarity with the full Microsoft Office suite, and competency in the use of social media for professional purposes (including Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Facebook) is required. Familiarity with graphic design and audio and video editing would be an asset. Familiarity with working in an academic environment is preferred.

Specific duties include:

  • Managing day-to-day operations at the FCHI;
  • Supporting the Director’s agenda and strategic planning for the Center;
  • Managing logistics and operational planning for FCHI events;
  • Coordinating special events and collaborating with FCHI staff members, other Emory units, and inter-institutionally;
  • Managing and administering program budgets;
  • Managing FCHI communications and outreach;
  • Identifying potential funding sources and drafting grant applications;
  • Supervising the Fellows Coordinator;
  • Maintaining robust documentation of all activities and providing materials for monitoring and assessment;
  • Other duties as assigned.
