Job Summary

The NH Family Resource Center (FRC) provides high quality programming to serve families living in Seattle promoting systems navigation and family health and wellness. 

The FRC Employment Case Manager will report to the Family Connections Supervisor. They will join our highly motivated and creative FRC team in providing programs spanning a wide array of topics, including, and not limited to, employment services to underserved communities of color

In addition, the Family Resource Center (FRC) Employment Case Manager is the key lead in our Ready to Work(RTW) program. The goal of RTW is to support immigrants and refugees to gain English language skills while attaining stable jobs. This position will work closely with our partner, Literacy Source, who will provide the English Language classes. At the same time, The Employment Case Manager will provide guidance in attaining employment. Other duties in this partnership includes publicizing FRC and RTW programs to recruit participants and clients while developing and/or maintaining relationships with partners, peer agencies, volunteers, community members and other stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

FRC Program Coordination (40%)

  • Build strong relationships with the underserved communities in Seattle as an FRC team member.
  • Coordinate outreach to learn of communities’ needs.
  • Develop and implement relevant FRC group programs and events.
  • Develop promotional materials to reach targeted community members with diverse languages and literacy abilities.
  • Provide 1:1 assistance and conduct warm referrals to services within NH and with external partners in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with program partners, including other community-based organizations, government agencies and private vendors, by networking and attending meetings.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers by offering consistent and quality support.
  • Assist team members with ongoing continuous quality improvement to enhance program operations, including problem solving, helping to develop program systems and procedures, or participating on team workgroups.
  • Work with staff from other Neighborhood House programs to coordinate services and cross train on connecting working families with available resources.
  • Work effectively in communicating and coordinating recruitment and on-going services with main partner agency, to ensure unified efforts.

RTW Employment Services (50%)

  • Determine client eligibility for employment services and track participant activities and achievements.
  • Provide job development, placement and retention services to clients to assist with their job match.
  • Mediate, problem-solve and coordinate individual services for clients.
  • Assist clients with creating resumes and filling out online job applications.
  • Obtain and utilize appropriate assessment and testing tools to determine student skills and needs to target instruction when necessary.
  • Be an active partner with our main partner, Literacy Source and the other regional members of the RTW consortium to coordinate employment services and ESL goals.

Administrative Duties (10%)

  • Maintain accurate and complete records in a timely manner
  • Complete enrollments promptly
  • Work within NH and with partners adhere to unique sets of data collection and maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • AA Degree in Human Services or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 2 years of experience working with youth and/or families in employment services, social work, human services, or any combination that provides equivalent preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a culturally diverse workplace dedicated to equity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated understanding of local ethnic communities, labor market, local employer base, social services and education institutions in King County.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and considerable self-direction.
  • Ability to excel in highly visible, highly public settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a culturally diverse workplace dedicated to equity and inclusion.

  • Willingness to comply with the established agency performance standards, which includes productivity/personal responsibility, customer service-orientation, embracing a team player orientation, entrepreneurial, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Must have reliable, independent transportation for traveling between job sites.
  • Candidates must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including some weekends or evenings, as necessary.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Selection can be based on, but not limited to, bi-lingual ability in Somali, Oromo, Tigrinya, Spanish and/or Vietnamese.

 

Required Credentials

  • Must pass Neighborhood House background check requirements.
  • Position requires Washington State bi-annual criminal background re-check.

 

Post-Hire on-the-job Training Requirements

  • Current First Aid Certificate within 30 days of hire.
  • Current CPR Certificate within 30 days of hire.
  • Sexual Harassment Training within 30 days of hire.
  • Child Abuse and Neglect training (within 2 weeks of hire).
