• State Regulatory Engagement - IREC represents the public interest in state regulatory proceedings and develops and disseminates best practices to ensure that distributed energy resources (DERs) can be equitably and efficiently integrated on the electric grid.

About the Position

• Type: Full-time; exempt
• Salary: $70,000-$85,000

The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) seeks a passionate manager to advance change at the intersection of clean energy, equity, and inclusion. You will be a core member of IREC’s Workforce Development team, collaborating with colleagues and a broad range of partners and stakeholders on national and regional efforts to improve clean energy workforce recruitment, training and education, and job placement outcomes. You will manage day-to-day operations for projects focused on accelerating the growth of a highly qualified and diverse workforce, and ensuring that clean energy offers high-quality, family-sustaining career pathways. Initial tasks will focus on accelerating Registered Apprenticeship (RA) programs in the clean energy sector by recruiting and supporting employers in establishing RA programs, as well as recruitment of clean energy learners and workers and development of educational and career exploration resources for underrepresented communities, veterans, opportunity youth, and others.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues and partners to increase awareness of clean energy careers and improve job placement outcomes in the clean energy sector
• Create outreach materials in a variety of formats to promote clean energy careers, workforce best practices, and information about IREC projects and programs
• Conduct outreach and engage employers, education providers, and other stakeholders to identify and address workforce development needs
• Project / Partner Management - define/assign tasks, set deadlines and track progress, coordinate with multiple partners (internal and external), data management, reporting
• Employer engagement – coordinate and/or provide technical assistance to employers, educational institutions, and others  interested in establishing Registered Apprenticeship programs to train workers in the clean energy sector
• Support project management tasks such as writing progress reports, developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, coordinating webinars, scheduling meetings with partners, etc.
• Utilize, and coordinate other team member's use of, software tools such as Salesforce, Slack, & Asana (project management). 
• Build and nurture relationships with employers, education providers, and other clean energy stakeholders throughout the United States
• Support internal initiatives to further strengthen IREC’s workplace culture and organizational impact
• Occasional support for programmatic fundraising activities and grant applications
• Assist other IREC programs and initiatives as needed

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Qualities for This Role:

The successful candidate will bring the following qualities to our organization:

Required:

• 4+ years of relevant work experience
• Familiarity with the Clean Energy industry, particularly with regard to workforce needs, including work processes and training requirements for different roles across an industry sector and within an individual company, and career pathways from entry-level to advanced positions
• Experience with state/federal/foundation grants, particularly with regard to reporting requirements and processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to provide high-quality customer service
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and project management skills
• Willingness to be flexible, adapt to new technologies, learn, and shift course as needs arise
• Passionate about clean energy, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility

Preferred: 

• An undergraduate degree in public policy, economics, education, sociology, environmental studies, or other related field
• Knowledge of workforce education and training strategies, particularly Registered Apprenticeships
• Experience with project management processes and software
