Camp Blue Skies is an overnight camp for adults 21+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities ranging from mild to moderate, who are able to communicate their needs and are independent with their ADLs. Camp sessions are held five times a year (two 5-day sessions in March, one 3-day session in May, and two 5-day sessions in October). We work to provide a safe environment in which each camper may learn, grow, increase their independence, make new friends, and have fun! The Health Services Assistant (HSA) is an RN who reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Camp Blue Skies Health Services Director. The HSA will attend all five in-person camp sessions each year to assist with ensuring the safety and well-being of the campers, staff, and volunteers. The HSA will utilize their nursing skills and judgment to distribute medications, assess injuries, intervene with behavioral concerns, and coordinate care in an emergency. The HSA will also spend time out in camp, building relationships with campers, encouraging them, and being a positive role model. Following camp, the HSA will participate in team debrief meetings to discuss overall camp processes, successes, challenges, and ways to improve future camps.
